昨日から、八ヶ岳の麓にある長野県原村のますいい山荘に来ている。原村は、八ヶ岳の西側の山麓で、赤岳の麓、人口がわずか7000人ほどしかいないとても小さな村である。この村はこれまでゴルフ場やらスキー場やらの開発を全て許可してこなかった。故に「何もない」、という魅力が今まさに評価されている場所だ。昨年９月に築38年のとても古いログハウスの山荘を手にいれ、ますいい山荘と名付けた。山荘の窓からは、南アルプスが一望できる。昨日からとても天気が良いので、甲斐駒ヶ岳から北岳、鳳凰三山などがとても綺麗な雪化粧の姿を見せてくれた。窓のすぐ近くに木には、キツツキがいた。キツツキはとてもイタズラ好きで、こやの破風板や軒天に穴を開けるので困る。他にもたくさんの野鳥がいて、窓から外を眺めているだけでなんとなく時間が過ぎていってしまう。標高が１５００mと高いので少々寒く、冬はマイナス18度まで下がったこともあるのだけれど、大型の薪ストーブがあるので逆にこの寒さが心地よい。この村は僕が、いろいろなことを考えることができる最も好きな場所である。
Since yesterday, I’ve been staying at a cabin owned by Masuii in Hara Village, Nagano Prefecture, at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains. Hara Village is a tiny village with a population of just 7,000, located at the western foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, at the foot of Mount Aka. This village has never permitted development such as golf courses or ski resorts, and as a result, the charm of having nothing there is now being appreciated. Last September, I acquired a 38-year-old log cabin and named it Masuii Mountain Lodge. From the lodge’s windows, I can enjoy a panoramic view of the Southern Alps. The weather has been beautiful since yesterday, offering a stunning view of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Kaikoma, Mount Kitadake, and Mount Ho-o. There was a woodpecker in a tree right next to the window. Woodpeckers are very mischievous, drilling holes in the gables and eaves of the lodge, which is a real pain. There are also many wild birds, and I find time just passing by gazing out the window. The village is located at an altitude of 1,500 meters, so it is a little cold, and in winter the temperature has dropped to minus 18 degrees, but the large wood stove makes the cold feel comfortable. This village is my favorite place, where I can think about many things.
今日は、朝８時ごろ山荘を出て、北横岳を登りに行った。北八ヶ岳に位置するこの山は、北八ヶ岳ロープウェーを使って登ることができるため、実際に登るのは２５０mしかない初心者向けのコースだ。途中に危険なところもなく、アイゼンの人もいればチェーンスパイクの人もいる、冬のハイキングコースというところである。北横岳を登った後は、隣の縞枯山に登るとちょうど良い。全て合わせて５００mほどの標高差の登坂である。少し物足りないかなと思うくらいで、１５時ごろ北八ヶ岳ロープウェーの山麓駅に戻った。
Today, I left the mountain lodge around 8am to climb Kitayokodake. This mountain, located in the North Yatsugatake Mountains, can be reached using the North Yatsugatake Ropeway, and the actual climb is only 250m, making it a beginner-friendly course. There are no dangerous areas along the way, and some people wear crampons, while others wear chain spikes, making it a winter hiking trail. After climbing Kitayokodake, it’s a good idea to climb the neighboring Shimagareyama. The total climb is about 500m in elevation. I felt a little unsatisfied, so I returned to the base station of the North Yatsugatake Ropeway around 3pm.
僕は八ヶ岳山麓の土地で、年に１棟だけ土壁のお客様の別荘の建築をしたいと思っている。東京から中央道で移動するにはちょうど良い場所である。近年の東京の夏は暑い。その暑い夏の間に年に１棟だけ、東京がとても暑い間に大工さんたちに、ここの涼しい場所で家づくりをしてもらいたいという思いだ。2027年の夏には第１号を始めたい。工事は、６月ごろには基礎を作っておいて、７・８月で大工工事を行う予定である。左官には名古屋の勇建工業さんが来てくれる。この山荘の壁は木摺下地に土壁を塗ってで作ることになるだろう。石膏ボードは極力使わない。クライアントは未定だ。土地探しからになるであろうから、申し込みは早い方が良い。ぜひどなたかのお申し込みをお待ちしております。
I’d like to build one earthen-walled villa per year for a client on land at the foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains. It’s a convenient location for travel from Tokyo on the Chuo Expressway. Tokyo summers have been hot in recent years. I want carpenters to build one house per year in this cool location during the scorching summer heat. I’d like to start construction on the first villa in the summer of 2027. The foundation will be laid around June, with carpentry work to begin in July and August. Yuken Kogyo from Nagoya will be the plasterer. The walls of this villa will be constructed with a plastered earthen wall over a wooden base. I’d like to avoid using plasterboard as much as possible. I haven’t yet decided on a client. Since I’ll probably have to start by finding land, it’s best to apply early. I look forward to hearing from you.
