今日は、リビングデザインセンターオゾンの新井さんが来社した。2000年ごろにスタートした家づくりコンサルティング事業を廃止するということで、これからのオゾンのあり方などについてのよもやま話であった。2000年というと、ますいいリビングカンパニーのスタートした年でもある。あっという間の２６年、26年も経つとやっぱり色々なことが変わるのだ。
Today, Ms. Arai from Living Design Center Ozone visited us. We discussed the future of Ozone, as the company is discontinuing its home building consulting business, which began around 2000. 2000 was also the year that Masuii Living Company was founded. 26 years have flown by in the blink of an eye, and a lot of things change after 26 years.
当時は情報がそれほど豊かではなかった時代であった。そのような中で、施主が家を建てるという一大事業を、どのように自分のこだわりを込める家づくりを行うことができるのかを、自分一人で決めるのはなかなか難しい時代であった。有名な建築家も家づくりに参加していた。デザインビルドの工務店などはあまりなかった。発展途上の業界、という時代だったと思う。そこでオゾンのコーディネーターさんたちが、施主の要望に合わせた作り方を考え、アドバイスをしてあげるという事業は、とても有意義なものであったと思う。とても大切なものがひとつなくなってしまったという感は否めないのだけれど、何かこれに変わるものをスタートしてくれれば良いと思うし、僕も力になれればと思う。
At the time, information was not abundant. In such an environment, it was difficult for clients to build a house that would realize their own preferences. Famous architects were involved in home building. There were not many design-build construction companies. I think it was a time when the industry was still developing. So, I think the work of Ozone’s coordinators, who came up with construction methods that suited the client’s requests and offered advice, was very meaningful. I can’t deny the feeling that something very important has been lost, but I hope they start something to replace it, and I would like to be of some help.
今、この家づくり業界は変革期に差し掛かっていると思う。第二の変革期、これからは職人の復興が始まる。Aiの時代に、最後に人がやらなければいけないことは人しかできないものづくりだ。新しい時代に向けた思考の一貫で、僕は4月から東京大学の博士課程で左官と中心とする技能者の研究を行う。設計と施工管理の一体化の20年から、設計と職人の一体化の時代へと変わるのである。人にしかできないことをできる人材の教育、Aiがやったほうが良いことや機械化・自動化を適切に取り入れること、その結果、施主にとってとても大切な自由を適正価格で提供できること、これこそが高すぎる日本の家づくりの中で今こそ求められることではないかと思うのである。
I believe the homebuilding industry is currently on the brink of a transformation. This second transformation marks the beginning of a revival of craftsmen. In the age of AI, the last thing humans will need to do is create things that only humans can do. As part of my thinking for a new era, I will begin a doctoral program at the University of Tokyo in April, researching plasterers and other skilled workers. We are moving from 20 years of integrating design and construction management to an era of integrating design and craftsmen. By training personnel who can do the things that only humans can do, and by appropriately incorporating things that are better done by AI and mechanization and automation, we can provide the freedom that is so important to clients at a reasonable price, which is what is required in the expensive home building industry in Japan.
